Understanding Work Log

Each work log is captured by City Time randomly in a 10 minute interval. Every Work Log ‘block’ is made up of “10 minutes”. However this does not mean that we will not consider any time of less than 10 minutes because the first work log posted is always less than 10 minutes.

Why are the work logs divided into 10 minutes?
It is easier to manage your work logs if they are in blocks of 10 minutes. Suppose you wanted to remove 30 minutes from your work log, you can do so by removing ‘3 blocks’ from your work log.

What does the work log contain?

Following information captured by City Time is displayed in each ‘Work Log Block’ of 10 minutes:
1. Time when work log was captured
2. Your active application
3. Your keyboard/mouse activity rate
4. Screenshot
5. Task you were working on
6. Project you were working on
7. Optional Comment
8. Cumulative time (total time of work logged till that work log)

The total time of work logged on a given day is displayed at the bottom of the work log page.

Adding Optional Comment
You can add an optional comment for each work log. This will help the client have a better understanding of your work. Although it is not required to enter an optional comment with each work log, we recommend entering one before each clock out.

Adding Offline Work Logs
There are times when you do not clock in to City Time to log your work. You can still report hours worked using the ‘Add offline work log’ link provided in both the Activity and the Work Log pages. In order to add offline work log, you have to specify the date and time period when you worked “Offline”.
